For the second year in a row, MidwayUSA founder and CEO Larry Potterfield attended the Public Safety Leadership Academy hosted by the Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI) at the Columbia Police Department Regional Training Center.  During his speech, Potterfield shared his knowledge of management principles to law enforcement supervisors.

During this five day conference, attendees had the opportunity to hear from law enforcement professionals and local business leaders on topics such as media relations, interpersonal communications, meeting management and strategic decision making.

“One of our company goals is getting involved within our community, whether it’s supporting our local Boy Scout troop or local law enforcement,” said Larry Potterfield.  “Sharing the leadership and management principles learned through the Malcolm Baldrige National Criteria for Performance Excellence program can be applied to any profession.  Why not take what we’ve learned and share it with the future leaders of law enforcement?”

Potterfield, who enjoys sharing his company’s strategic planning process with community business leaders, attended the leadership academy to talk about strategic planning, performance improvement through process management and how to create value in order to make any profession successful.

“For our leadership academy we wanted someone who has been successful in a leadership role and Larry Potterfield certainly fit that description,” said LETI Director John Worden. “Larry not only brings the knowledge of how great leaders work but has the experience to go with that knowledge. No one can argue with his success in leading a corporation that started from a small shop to a Baldrige award winning company.”
